  • All Things New

    All Things New

    04/04/2021 Duração: 28min

On this Easter Sunday, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and see his promise to make all things new. As we live between the empty tomb and the new heavens and new earth we pray to see God's kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. God's great delight is to make all things new!

  • Jesus the Gentle King

    Jesus the Gentle King

    28/03/2021 Duração: 34min

Jesus makes it abundantly clear that he rides into Jerusalem as not only king but the king to end all kings. At the same time, though, the method of his announcement - to ride on a donkey - causes confusion to say the least. Matthew invites us into this tension and gives us a foretaste of the tension that is to be felt during these last seven days of Jesus life on earth.

  • Jubilee For Our Enemies

    Jubilee For Our Enemies

    21/03/2021 Duração: 39min

As Jesus begins his ministry He announces the good news of the year of Jubilee. He's announcing freedom for the poor, the blind, the prisoner, and the slave! It's really good news until the town of Nazareth hears that Jesus will offer this good news to their enemies. In this sermon, we dive into God's desire to bring this message of freedom to the whole world. Like the prophet Jonah, we have to wrestle with God's good news for our enemies.

  • Temptation in the Wilderness

    Temptation in the Wilderness

    07/03/2021 Duração: 36min

In this sermon, we explore the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. He was tempted by the devil with instant pleasure, power, and praise. But Jesus understood that any progress in his life without the presence of his Father would be futile, so he clung to God's truth and Presence. We also take a deep look at the moral failures of Christian men in Christian leadership positions, and we see that Jesus in Luke 4 points us to a better way of life and freedom from slavery to sin.

  • Hospitality Peacemaking

    Hospitality & Peacemaking

    21/02/2021 Duração: 36min

In our final week of the Shalom series we spend time in Luke 19 as we listen again to the Zaccheaus story. In Luke 19 we re-discover the truth that Jesus is a friend of sinners, and Jesus interacts with sinners by sitting down to a meal with them. At a table of hospitality, Jesus changes the city of Jericho. This is a blueprint for all of us who follow Jesus. The only way to be a peacemaker is around the table of hospitality.

  • Gentle Conviction

    Gentle Conviction

    14/02/2021 Duração: 39min

In our fifth week of the Shalom series, we unpack what it looks like to live with a gentle conviction. Gentleness is a teaching found all over the New Testament and seems to be a forgotten virtue. By walking in humility, learning to listen, avoiding "tasty shortcuts" and growing in empathy we will practice the gentleness of Jesus. In the end, we look to the gentle One who offered Truth in vulnerability, humility, and love.

  • Non-Anxious Presence in the Storm

    Non-Anxious Presence in the Storm

    08/02/2021 Duração: 36min

In the cultural and personal storms stirred up by our angry, anxious, and polarized world, followers of Jesus are called to stand out as a "non-anxious presence." Even one person who carries the peace of Christ into an anxious environment can make a life-changing difference. We talk about four practices that help to cultivate a non-anxious presence.

  • Living In Exile

    Living In Exile

    24/01/2021 Duração: 39min

In our second week of the Shalom series, we unpack what it looks like to live in exile as citizens of God's kingdom, His holy nation. Anchored in the truth that we are citizens of God's kingdom, we can move into the world as peacemakers. We discover, like the people of Israel discovered in Babylon, that God is asking us to seek the peace of the city that we live in. And we asked the question 'How can I live as a Bridgebuilder and Peacemaker in Babylon?'

  • Lay Down Your Stones

    Lay Down Your Stones

    17/01/2021 Duração: 40min

We begin our series entitled 'Shalom: following Jesus in an angry, anxious, and polarized world' by observing the incredibly polarized world that Jesus lived in. He Himself lived amidst political, religious, and ethnic tension. We look specifically at Jesus' rescue of the woman caught in adultery and his wisdom in avoiding the ideological traps of his day. Let's lay down our stones of judgment and listen to how Jesus might shape us in the coming 6 weeks to be peacemakers.

  • Preparing the Way

    Preparing the Way

    10/01/2021 Duração: 27min

After God spoke through the prophet Malachi, there was 400 years where God was silent. 400 years! But God is about to be silent no more. In Luke chapter 3, Jesus is 30 years old and about to begin his ministry on earth. God is silent no more. And just as a herald went out in ancient time to declare that the king was coming, the prophet John (the Baptist) tells everyone to prepare for the arrival of a king that the world has never seen before.

  • Live In The Hope Of Christmas

Live In The Hope Of Christmas

    20/12/2020 Duração: 33min

True and living hope is not ultimately found in anything this world offers. Rather, our hope is anchored in Gods promises revealed in human history and Gods initiative of love, held in the mystery of the incarnation. God is with us in every present circumstance, giving us confident hope now and for our future.

In this third Sunday of Advent, we look at Zechariah's song of praise. Filled with the Spirit he sees with new eyes the impact of the coming of Jesus. Sometimes we don't have hope because we can't see properly. Hope comes when the Holy Spirit fills us and points us to the greatness of Jesus!

  • The Public Reading of Scripture

    The Public Reading of Scripture

    15/11/2020 Duração: 31min

When was the last time you read the Bible out loud? When was the last time you read it out loud with others? As much as we may or may not read the Bible to ourselves, so many today neglect the public reading of Scripture. And because of that, we are missing out on something beautiful and tangible in how God may want to speak to us. The public reading of Scripture was (and is) part and parcel of Jewish worship, and something that we as apprentices of Jesus can learn from today.
