After an exhausting night of unsuccessful fishing, seven of Jesus' disciples had a surprise encounter with their risen Lord on the shore of Lake Tiberias. Jesus not only convincingly revealed his physical, bodily resurrection to a group of his disciples for the third time, but he even prepared breakfast of fish and bread for them. -This passage is further testimony to the importance of multiple witnesses to verify Christ's bodily resurrection.

Paul writes to Timothy concerning our Lord Jesus. God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, 10 but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel . 2 Timothy 1-9-10-Jesus in his incarnation abolished death and brought life and immortality. To explore the meaning of this work of Christ Jesus we need to ask and answer two questions. Where or in whom is eternal life-- When does eternal life begin. Second Jesus is referred to as the firstfruits from the dead and the firstborn of and from the dead. -Revelation 1-5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. The apostle Thomas was not present when Jesus first showed himself in his resurrected body to the Apostles on the evening of the day he arose from the dead. When his fellow apostles told him he refused to believe unless he saw for himself Jesus' body bearing the marks of his crucifixion. Jesus accommodated himself to Thomas and commanded Thomas to touch him. He said to Thomas, -Put your finger here, and see my hands- and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.- From the lips of Thomas came this great confession- -My Lord -King-Master- and My God---We are dependent on the eye-witness testimony of the Apostles and others who saw Jesus alive after his death and burial. They not only saw him but touched, and ate with him. Jesus says of us who believe- -Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.--The major reason for John's gospel narrative is to bear witness to Jesus as Messiah, the Son of God.

The day of Jesus' resurrection was very busy with his comings and goings to several people and climaxed in the evening with his first appearance to a group of ten of his apostles.-Jesus is raised in the physical body of incarnation and death which is now raised an immortal body. Jesus bestows his peace upon the disciples. He then gives his commission, -as the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.- Having said this he breathed on them and said, -Receive the Holy Spirit.- This poses several questions that call an answer.

A most unique attribute of the living God, Yahweh, is his immortality. Christians many times use this term incorrectly. The Bible says God alone is immortal.--1 Timothy 1-17-To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.--1 Timothy 6-13-16-13 I command you, in the sight of God who gives life to all things and Christ Jesus who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you observe the commandment without fault, irreproachable until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which he will make known in his own time, the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords, 16 the one who alone possesses immortality, who lives in unapproachable light, whom no human being has seen nor is able to see, to whom be honor and eternal power. A descriptive sermon on Jesus' crucifixion centered on the eyewitness account of his beloved disciple. The framework is that of 3 focuses- the placement, the groups present at the foot of the cross, and Jesus 3 spoken words recorded by John.

A primary reason why Christians know that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah, the Promised Anointed One, the Redeemer, is the predicted prophecies that are fulfilled in his life. Psalm 22 is a detailed picture of Jesus' sufferings on the cross. Both Matthew and John relate this in their accounts. Matthew records the behavior of people and Jesus' inner experiences of thought and emotional pain as well as his bodily suffering. Listen to the record of Psalm 22 with Matthew 27 and Jesus' own prophecy in Matthew 20.

After Jesus' arrest he was taken to the residence of Annas for a pretrial hearing which failed to produce a charge. From there he was taken to the Temple where a council was hastily summoned before daylight. False witnesses were called but no witness proved credible. Ultimately the High Priest by an oath compelled Jesus to answer the question, -I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.- Jesus said to him, -You have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven- -Matt. 26-64-. He was quoting from Daniel 7. Because they rejected his claims, despite his many signs, they condemned him to death. However, since they did not have the legal power to implement capital punishment, they took him to the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate to secure a political verdict. When the soldiers came to arrest Jesus in the garden grove where he had been praying he went out and said to them, -Who is it that you're seeking---- -Jesus of Nazareth,- they answered. He answered, -I am-. At this manifestation of his nature they fell down.-When Peter drew a hand sword and cut off the ear of servant of the High Priest, Jesus rebuked him for once again seeking to interfere with God's will that the cross was his destination.-Am I not to drink the cup the Father has given me-- Jesus said to Peter. I want to take you to a dark spot. It is in the garden where Jesus is arrested and taken in custody. Here is the account as recorded by John who was an eyewitness to the event. John 18-1-11 with references to prior events.

In this passage we see that--1-3 -The Forces of evil set their plan in motion.-v. 4 - Jesus was not surprised by what was happening. -v. 5,8 - Jesus plainly declares his deity. -v. 9 - Jesus fulfills his own word of promise to guard his disciples.-v. 10 - Weapons of the world will not accomplish God's will.-v.11 - Jesus' commitment to drinking the cup -of God's wrath- the Father has handed him is unwavering.

Jesus spoke of his approaching -hour- a number of times throughout his ministry. He used this term to refer to his coming crucifixion on the cross. The whole trajectory of his life pointed to the cross. It was there in behalf of his people that Jesus accomplished reconciliation between the holy God and a sinful people, became the propitiation for them before the wrath of God, as well as the substitution for the judgment that they deserve. In addition, eternal redemption was secured and the power to walk in newness of life was granted them. So God's people can now live their lives by faith in the Son of God and no longer live as slaves to sin but for God's honor and glory. A great deliverance-

On the day of his triumph ride into Jerusalem two of Jesus' disciple approach him with a request. Some visiting Greeks who had come to Jerusalem for the Passover wish to meet with him personally. Rather that happened or not we are not told. Jesus took the occasion of the Greeks request to reveal the truth of his unfolding destiny. His hour, the hour set by the Father for him to be sacrificed on a cross has arrived- In his declarations he also speaks of the results of his death. Now is the judgment of this world- now will the ruler of this world be cast out.-And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.- Explore with me John 12-19-36

A Biblical exposition of the message Jesus the day after his supernatural came feeding of more than five thousand people by multiplying five small loves and two fish. The visit of the Jews with Jesus at the synagogue in Capernaum the day after he had fed them by the multiplication of the loaves and fish took the form of a series of questions. Questions are asked for various reasons such as information, to further a discussion, to express unbelief or belief, to express disapproval. This podcast reviews these questions as Jesus claims to be the Bread of Life.

In this passage we see that Jesus, the Bread of life--6-41-42,46 -is heaven sent but earthly connected. -the Incarnation--6-44-45 -is given to those whom the Father draws to his Son. . - Effectual calling-election- -47 - 50 -must be believed and eaten. -Salvation by faith with personal commitment.--49-50 - cancels the power of death. -Christ's resurrection--51 -is the flesh of Jesus Christ. -the necessity of -the bodily death of Jesus-.

One of the greatest signs that Jesus did that bolstered his apostle's faith in it was the feeding of the Five Thousand men plus. It is recorded in all four of the gospel narratives. Reading from John's account with some additional information from the other narratives we can relate day's the event . We can observe some obvious applications.
