Prime Speaks

Teen Services @ Manchester Public Library presents Prime Speaks. ed (a.k.a. Prime) talks about books, audiobooks and other things that might be of interest. As well as some of my regulars that frequent the library.

  • Kena & Mayfly do The Spiderwick Chronicles

    16/01/2007 Duração: 10min

This is the first in a series of about 6 episodes on the Spiderwick Chronicles. It is a series of 5 books that are brilliant. So you should check them out.

  • Prime does Magic or Madness

    31/07/2006 Duração: 02min

  • Prime does Septimus Heap

    27/07/2006 Duração: 04min

Septimus Heap is a series of books by Angie Sage. Book One is titled Magyk, and Book Two is titled Flyte. I listen to the first and read the second both were quite good

  • Prime does the Big Empty

    17/07/2006 Duração: 02min

The Big Empty by J. B. Stephens is a story of the world that may be. A world devastated by a virus that wipes out 3/4 of the world population.

  • Prime Does Peeps

    10/07/2006 Duração: 03min

Peeps is a really sweet work of fiction. Every other chapter gives a v v in depth description of the live cycle of a parasite. It was great. Though i suggest it for older teens because of the sex and drinking that are the basis for the story's beginning. All in all it is a fun read that i think you should all check out. It is available at Mary Cheney. Later, ed

  • Prime Does Summer Reading

    03/07/2006 Duração: 03min

This is the 7th summer that we have done a program for teens here at the library. For the past 5 we have had a t-shirt that has promoted reading in a foreign (or fictional) language. This year i decided to make a contest out of it. The logo is based on another fictional language from a series of books. Every 2 books that you read over the summer gets you a guess at what it says. Every correct answer gets you an entry into a drawing for a 1Gb iPod Nano. In addition you also get to enter a second drawing every 10 books that you read. So the more you read the better your chances are of winning. Contact me if you have any questions. ed

  • Prime does Mirrormask

    16/06/2006 Duração: 03min

Mirrormask is actually a book that is based on a movie. It was written by Neil Gaiman who is an amazing writer. But almost better than that is that it is illustrated by Dave McKean who was responsible for the covers of Coralina and the Sandman Series. I would suggest taking a look at the book and the movie. And remember if you yell at a book and throw it to the ground it very well might give you a ride to come see us here at the library. That and you might get to catch your very own library book using a butterfly net. Be caref]ul not to scare them or they could shed all of their pages

  • Prime does Half Moon Investigations by Eoin Colfer

    16/05/2006 Duração: 03min

Want to be a private investigator. Well find out what happens when a sixth grader actually gets a PI license and his life is change. Whether or not this is going to be a series i can't tell. But i definitely want to know what Fletcher "Half" Moon gets into next.

  • Prime does Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

    17/04/2006 Duração: 02min

What a great book this is. I have listened to all four of them. It isn't uncommon that when i get to my destination i linger a bit to hear just a wee bit more of the story. The narrator does a brilliant job with the accents too.

  • Messenger by Lois Lowry

    10/04/2006 Duração: 55s

Merv talks about the last book he listened to. Yes i said listened to. It is a great alternative to reading. Hope you enjoy it as much as he did.

  • Microserfs

    16/11/2005 Duração: 01min

Microserfs by Douglas Coupland is a satirical look at the Microsoft culture during the early 90s. It's absolutely brilliant. The comparison between MS and Apple's employee culture is fantasatic.
