  • Episode 49: Disney Anger

    09/04/2022 Duração: 59min

Well, it’s been a few months. Quite frankly, Disney’s recent political missteps have really given us a lot to think about. The two of us (Mike and Dave) make this little show because we love the history of the films and theme parks of Disney - but their involvement with funding politicians pushing discriminatory legislation made us wonder over the past few months about whether we could continue supporting them. In this pretty freewheeling episode, we talk through our feelings on the issue. We would love to hear your opinions: [email protected].

  • Episode 48: From Attraction to Film - The Jungle Cruise!

    01/12/2021 Duração: 54min

It’s your boys Dave and Mike returning to your ear holes with a new episode of The Add More Mouse podcast! We interrupt our Disney Documentaries miniseries to revisit and update one of earliest series that looked at Disney attractions that were made into movies. With the new Jungle Cruise film finally hitting Disney+ this month, we felt the need to dive in. We look at the Easter eggs that point to the longtime attraction, and we discuss our opinion on the movie’s ranking in the Disney attraction-to-film pantheon. We also try to unravel the ridiculously complicated plot of this film that is about a whole lot more than just cruising the jungle. Email us at [email protected], and tell a friend about the show!

  • Episode 47: Disney Docs #4 - The Sweatbox

    30/10/2021 Duração: 43min

This is a wild one, folks. Well, as wild as we get, anyway. This episode is the fourth installment of our “Disney Docs” series…as in “documentaries.” And this one truly lives up to its name: The Sweatbox. Only available as a bootleg on certain streaming sites, this documentary chronicles the making of The Emperor’s New Groove, starting at the very beginning when the cast, script, title, music and director were all completely different. But is there a good reason this movie remains unavailable on reputable streaming sites? Why does Disney not acknowledge its existence? Ahead of that we tackle some important things, like Bluey, Prop Culture, and Ohio weather. It wouldn’t be Add More Mouse if we didn’t spend time talking about the weather. • Episode 46: Disney Docs 3 - Walt and El Grupo

    16/10/2021 Duração: 51min

Hello there! Dave and Mike are back to talk about the next film in their Disney Documentaries series: Walt and El Grupo! This film centers on the pivotal 1941 goodwill trip Walt Disney went on with a team of artists to gather info for animated films based in South America. Spoiler alert: it’s a delight! Before that, the gents talk way too long about how to acquire Disney toys from McDonald’s, the magic and wonder of the Disney+ cartoon Bluey, and Muppet Haunted Mansion.

In this ep your boys are talking about the film Waking Sleeping Beauty, a documentary all about the Eisner/Katzenberg era of Disney parks and animation. Before we get to that we touch on a WHOLE BUNCH of Disney stuff - WDW 50th Anniversary things, the new nighttime shows HarmoniUS and Enchanted as well as the wild online reaction to them, Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser hotel, and how to spot Disney shills. • Episode 44: Disney Documentaries #1 - The Boys

    17/08/2021 Duração: 42min

Woah! Did you think we forgot we had a podcast? We actually recorded a whole episode and it was unusable thanks to audio issues from a wonky cell phone, so we apologize for the delay. But here it is: the first episode of our Disney Documentaries miniseries, and we’re talking about The Boys, the film about The Disney company’s in-house songwriters The Sherman brothers. Mike and Dave discuss how difficult their relationship must have been, marvel at the sheer voluminous output of the brothers, and also wonder what might have been different if this documentary had not been made by the families of its subjects. Also, we actually discuss some Disney news and debate the ticket price attached to Disney’s long awaited “Star Wars hotel.” Come listen as the boys discuss The Boys! • Fact and Fiction: Cool Runnings

    04/05/2021 Duração: 54min

Hey! Welcome to the Add More Mouse poddy cast, a show where two doofuses landlocked in Ohio with no access or insider news talk about Disney stuff. You found us! Today is the 3rd episode in a 4 ep miniseries called Fact and Fiction, wherein we look at a few movies in the Disney catalog that were “based on a true story,” and we take a look at just how accurate they are. In this episode we’re looking at a true Disney 90’s classic, Cool Runnings. Mike and Dave take you through what parts of this movie were taken from real life and which parts were invented for the screen. Were these characters real athletes? Did the coach of the real Jamaican bobsled team have a cheating scandal in his history? Why do they make it seem like running and bobsledding are part of the same olympics? Why is one of the characters named Yul Brynner? Was Jar Jar Binks based on Doug E Doug’s performance in this? Join us as we answer about half of those questions. Thanks for listening, and you can email the show at [email protected]

  • Episode 39: Iron Will - Fact and Fiction

    06/04/2021 Duração: 48min

Dave and Mike are back with the second episode of their “Fact and Fiction” miniseries which looks at some of Disney’s movies that were “based on a true story” to determine just how close (or far) from reality they were. This time we’re looking at one of Dave’s childhood favorites: Iron Will! Ever wanted to know about dog sledding and whether it’s cinematic portrayal is realistic or not? No? Well too bad, baby, because that’s what we’re talking about! We did some research, and we’ll give you all the facts you never knew you wanted to know about the 1917 Red River Dogsled Contest. Honestly I can’t even remember if that’s the right name of the race, but I’m tired. The boys also talk about their upcoming trip to the parks. Enjoy!

  • Episode 38: Disney’s Pocahontas - Fact and Fiction

    20/03/2021 Duração: 56min

Oh snap! It’s the Add More Mouse podcast and we’re starting a brand new miniseries! Since the beginning of the Disney company, the storytellers there have often looked to real events and people to base projects on, such as Davey Crocket, any of the 100 sports movies Disney has put out, or all the way back to Walt’s own project True-Life Adventures. But in Hollywood, real events often do not follow a traditional film’s three act structure, so writers and directors change the real stories in order to make them “more cinematic,” often while giving the audience a skewed idea of what really happened. We start our “Fact and Fiction” miniseries with 1995’s Pocahontas, the 33rd Animated Classic released by the studio. Your hosts dig into the burning questions audiences might have after seeing this film: Was Pocahontas real? Was her best friend a hummingbird? Did trees talk to people a few hundred years ago? The answers may (not) surprise you!

  • Episode 37: Favorite things to do at Walt Disney World that aren’t rides!

    22/02/2021 Duração: 53min

Well, it’s still winter time, and your hosts Dave and Mike both live in Ohio where it is cold, snowy, icy, windy, and what better time to sit down and fantasize about hanging out at Walt Disney World? Mike’s take place in the parks, and Dave’s take place outside of the parks, and honestly we don’t know if this will help you plan your next trip, we were just desperate to talk about warm weather activities. It did the trick and brightened our spirits, so here’s hoping it works for you, too!

  • Episode 32: Belle’s Enchanted Christmas

    12/12/2020 Duração: 47min

It’s Christmas! Almost! In order to try to block out the end of this legendarily garbage year, Dave and Mike are focusing on Disney holiday topics for the whole month of December. In this episode, the boys close out their miniseries looking at Disney sequels and segue into whatever holiday magic they can scrounge from what remains of 2020 by looking at the first sequel to the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast - which happens to be an entry into Disney’s secular Christmas canon. Is it good? Why is the villain the only CGI character? Why is chip’s mom so old? Is this Tim Curry’s greatest performance? Have we lost our minds? We must be, since we originally uploaded a version that wasn’t finished being edited! We’re professionals!

  • Episode 31: Sigh......Cars 2

    01/12/2020 Duração: 46min

Hi. Welcome to the Add More Mouse podcast. Dave and Mike love Disney stuff. They are doing a miniseries on Disney sequels. For this episode, they decided to discuss Cars 2. They have questions. So many questions. The most important of which is: how do you make a sequel to a story about small town pride and courage in the face of uncertainty? You add machine guns, explosions, torture and death, and voila: you get Cars 2.

  • Episode 30: Halloween Spook-tacula-ganza with Hocus Pocus

    01/11/2020 Duração: 01h03min

Hey there! This is the Add More Mouse podcast, a podcast about Disney stuff that sets itself apart from all the other Disney podcasts by being the only one hosted by Mike and Dave. This time, we take a break from our Disney sequels miniseries to celebrate Mike’s favorite holiday: Halloween. The boys do this by discussing the 1993 Bette Midler cult classic Hocus Pocus, a film Mike grew up with and Dave has just watched for the first time. Predictably, their opinions of the film differ. Along the way they discuss some Disney history in regards to the Eisner era, Bette Midler and the advent of Touchstone Pictures, and fall into some fairly predictable Disney trivia rabbit holes as well. They also discuss which Disney Halloween costumes they have forced their respective pets and children into.
