Larre and his brother Tuck flew from Kodiak out to Afognak Island near the Shelikov Straits for a 10-day hunt at the end of April. They wanted to stay in a Forest Service cabin, but the float plane had to put them ashore 10 miles away, because the bay was iced in. They also encountered blizzard conditions while hiking.
