Saw IV is the beginning of a new era in the franchise. John Kramer is Dead. Amanda is dead. Leigh Whannel is no longer writing. And Mark Hoffman is here.  What do you mean who?  Mark Hoffman. The cop who was in like 30 seconds of the last movie. Turns out the twist of IV is that a character that was barely established in the previous film is the true successor of Jigsaw. Kind of. Like Amanda, Mark isn’t very good at his job--in my humblest of opinions.  At least he’s hot though.  We also look deeper into John Kramer and what made him the way he was. And let’s just say he had a really rough year.
