Mike Flanagan continues to impress us with his knowledge of both the works of Edgar Allan Poe and his knowledge of the man himself.  This week, we’re diving into episode three of Fall of the House of Usher, loosely based on the short story “Murders in Rue Morgue”.  In “Murders in the Rue Morgue”, Edgar Allan Poe introduces the character C. Auguste Dupin, a brilliant detective who uses his analytical skills to solve crimes. The story begins with the brutal murders of Madame L'Espanaye and her daughter Camille in their locked apartment in the Rue Morgue in Paris. The police are baffled by the lack of evidence and the seemingly impossible nature of the crime. Dupin becomes interested in the case and, using his powers of deduction quickly solves the mystery. He discovers that the murders were committed by an escaped orangutan, which had been trained to perform tricks and had escaped from its owner. Dupin's solution to the crime is based on his careful observation of the evidence and his understanding of human psy
