They were two years apart and extremely close. To make matters worse, their mother was dying of lung cancer and they knew she only had months to live. The day before her brother's funeral, she was at the brink of losing total control. The Holy Spirit came to her in an almost tangible way. Anita’s story started out when she was sexually abused by a family member at the age of 4-5. She grew up with alcoholic parents and her mother died when she was 14. She found herself in unhealthy relationships, 2 abortions, pregnant out of wedlock, multiple marriages searching for that missing piece to fill the void. It was wasn't until she accepted an invitation from her son and his friend to attend Stonebridge church. She met a beautiful soul and friend, Gwen who introduced her to Jesus. It was then that her journey towards healing and wholeness began through various ministries, counseling, healing groups and mentorship. God has done an amazing work in her life and her journey continues. She has now found the missing piece...it is in Jesus Christ where she has found her worth. No more shame. No more condemnation. In 2011, one child was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder. Again, Brenda found herself all alone during the lowest point of her life.
