New research shows that 8-9.5% of kids between the ages of 8-18 have anxiety and now a US Task Force recommends anxiety screening for all kids! How about recommending chiropractic screening for all kids that includes checking them NOT just for posture and scoliosis but assessing them from a functional neurological perspective!

  • Episode 453: The person missing 1/3rd of their left brain

    19/04/2022 Duração: 14min

Can you grow without part of your brain? A recent article in Wired Magazine (see link below) discusses someone born without a temporal lobe, that is very much associated with speech...but this person has great vocabulary! How did that happen? Because parts of their brain took over for the missing parts! That's the amazing power of neuroplasticity!

  • Episode 452: The Stephen Porges Interview, Part 2: Polyvagal Theory & Chiropractic

    12/04/2022 Duração: 21min

The Polyvagal Theory has such profound implications in chiropractic, especially in pediatrics. Part 1 was introduced last week (Episode 451). For the entire seminar, check it out here:

  • Episode 450: Questions Questions Questions

    29/03/2022 Duração: 29min

What should be in an associate contract? What do you look for when you hire staff? How do you get new patients when you first open up? How do you pay back student loans early? These and many more questions answered...

  • Episode 449: "Out there in the great open spaces..."

    22/03/2022 Duração: 16min

When BJ Palmer said that we "have been given a sacred trust. Guard it well," he was talking about taking care of the suffering multitudes. Suffering includes pain but is not limited to pain. There are so many suffering people out there, especially kids. Make sure your mission is to reach those kiddos!

  • Episode 448: Neanderthals & Chiropractic

    15/03/2022 Duração: 11min

Neanderthals & Chiropractic? A recent article (see below) discussed why modern humans have back pain...essentially because of poor posture due to societies change towards more sedentary occupations and lifestyles. And when do these lifestyles start? During childhood, with kids glued to their phones and iPads. That's where chiropractic fits in! See article:

  • Episode 447: Ever hear about a mass sociogenic illness?

    08/03/2022 Duração: 15min

Mass sociogenic illness? Never heard of it until I read an article in the Atlantic Magazine last week (see below for link). It relates the concept of a functional Tourette's Syndrome-like issue that occurs when young people watch YouTube or TikTok videos of people with Tourette's and, in a way, begin to imitate them. The relevance: they define a Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) differently than Brain-based chiropractors do...but we work on these 'disconnected kids' by reconnecting them to their brains and nerve systems!

  • Episode 446: CDC changes developmental milestones???

    01/03/2022 Duração: 13min

Why change milestones? Eliminate crawling as a milestone? Add 3 months to milestone of talking and 6 months to the milestone of walking??? I thought that the definition of milestone is "a stone set up beside a road to mark the distance in miles to a particular place." You can't change a mile marker like that! If it is a mile from one place to another, that DOES NOT CHANGE!

  • Episode 445: Building safety and trust

    22/02/2022 Duração: 12min

No greater way to build safety and trust in your practice members than to focus on what is called patient-centered exams and adjustments. That means going at their speed, performing examination procedures that they are ok with, doing adjustments that their nerve system tells you they are ready for. Not doing what we want to do, but doing what they are capable of handling at that moment. This is called being Polyvagally-informed. Check out Dr Rubin's seminar with Dr. Porges (founder of the Polyvagal Theory) on Saturday, 4/2/2022 at this link:

  • Episode 444: Network Spinal Analysis- focus on kids and pregnant mommas

    15/02/2022 Duração: 25min

Want to see neuroplasticity in action in neuro-divergent, special needs kids? In pregnancy? Then investigate tonal techniques such as Network Spinal Analysis (NSA). How NSA works so effectively, specifically in kids with Autism and ADHD, and how impressive it works with pregnant mommas, can be understood by looking at it from a brain-based perspective.

  • Episode 443: How Jeanne Ohm explained chiropractic

    08/02/2022 Duração: 13min

Dr. Jeanne Ohm was a legend, an icon, a once-in-a-generation leader who passed away in 2019. Pathways to Family Wellness Magazine, the amazing healthy parenting magazine that she helped create, recently released a tribute issue to her that contained articles that Dr. Jeanne wrote over the years. She explained chiropractic so purely, so simply, so elegantly, that reading her words in this latest Pathways brought tears to my eyes. We miss you Jeanne!

  • Episode 442: "It's Your Time!"

    01/02/2022 Duração: 14min

The world is full of sick and suffering people. "It's your time" to take care of them, to reach them, to tell them that there's another way, to give them hope and resources and brain-based gentle chiropractic adjustments.

  • Episode 441: The difference between 'what will you do' vs 'what DO you do!"

    25/01/2022 Duração: 19min

'What will you do' means what you can do, might do, want to do, dream about doing. The key, however, is DID you do it? If you have 'that something' in your head and your heart then it can translate through your hands and into that pregnant momma or newborn or child on the spectrum, and you can help transform their lives. "I will" is predicated on finding "that something."

  • Episode 440: This is the Biggest Idea I Know Of

    18/01/2022 Duração: 18min

"Get the Big Idea...all else follows" said BJ Palmer. Chiropractic is the biggest idea I know of. Sure, when patients come into your practice or clinic, they potentially will experience amazing results. But what about you, the chiropractor or chiropractic student? As Larry Webster said, if you go deep into chiropractic, it will share all its secrets with you. Go deep! Read Green Books. Study philosophy. Serve the people. Adjust more kiddos!

  • Episode 438: Verticalization

    04/01/2022 Duração: 34min

Verticalization? It is the goal of the brain in an infant's 1st year of life. Get the body from the horizontal plane to the vertical plane in 1 year, through a series of developmental milestones that take the baby from non-mobile to mobile. That 1st year, that verticalization, is critical to happen in very a specific order in a very specific time sequence. The next goal of the brain after verticalization is communication (from age 1-2), and then from age 2-3 the brain's goal is socialization. You can see how a disruption in any of these 3 can create a cascade of effects to the growing child.
