We’re continuing our series “Life Hacks.” This week we’ll be talking about emotions. God has hardwired us with emotions, and Solomon share insights on how to handle our feelings and how to control our emotions.

We’re kicking off a new series called “Life Hacks.” In this series, we’re going to be looking at some of the critical areas in life and considering what the Bible says about how we win spiritually in those key areas. We’ll be having some conversations that you’ve probably never heard in church before, but it’s going to be great, and I believe you’ll be able to use the principles we discuss daily.

Whether you think Easter is more about chocolate bunnies and peeps or you’ve been a believer for years, the big idea for this message is that Easter is so much more! So as you experience this message, lean into the story, and experience the resurrection for yourself. God wants to write your story this morning, and when He does, He gives us a story worth telling!

When we let God write our stories, He writes a story worth telling! God writes a story abundantly more than we could ever imagine! But allowing God to write our story takes a step of faith. In this message, we meet the blind-beggar Bartimaeus, and we learn from his encounter with Jesus what it meant for him to let God write his story!

This week we are going to be continuing our sermon series, “What’s Your story?” We’re going to look at how God uses suffering in our story. I know we all have had difficult times in our lives. Maybe you’re experiencing a difficult time right now, with all that is happening in our world. And, we’ve asked ourselves the question, why, why all this suffering in the world? And so we’re going to wrestle with this important topic in this message.

Can you imagine meeting Jesus in person? That’s what happens in the passage we’re discussing this week, the author tells us that Jesus was walking along, and he sees a tax collector named Levi. And, where others might have seen a dreaded tax collector, Jesus saw potential. God sees us too. And, He sees our potential. When it comes to our story, God gets personal!

Mike Fariss, President of Urban Discovery Ministries, concludes our series on “Big ‘C’ Church” by exploring Ephesians 5 and discussing what it means to walk carefully and live wisely in the light that Christ provides each of us.

The big idea that we’re going to be talking about in this message is “Changed for Good.” Now, you can read this phrase in two ways. When we follow Jesus, we’re changed for good, and we’re changed for good! In this message, we’ll talk about both and how these changes impact our lives.

Last week we talked about how we are all in the same boat, our ability to unify around the cross, and the mission that allows the church to be all that God intends. This week we are going to turn a page in the book of Ephesians, literally. We’re going to be starting a whole new section of the book and considering how the mission that God has called us to and the amazing grace that He has given us impacts our daily lives.

This week we’re going to continue our series, Big ‘C’ Church, by considering the fact that the early church was such an eclectic, mixed group of people. Often we don’t realize just how radical it was for the early church to be composed of people from all different walks of life. So, why does God call people from so many different walks of life and unite them together to accomplish His purposes for the world? Join us as we dig into that question in this message.

This week we’re beginning a brand new sermon series entitled “Big ‘C’ Church.” For the next several weeks, we’re going to look at the universal church, all of us together. In this message, we’ll be looking at the book of Ephesians and asking, “What is God doing through the church? What is He calling us to be a part of?” If you are in the Tidewater area, I hope you’ll join us Sunday at 10:00 AM.

In this message, we’ll conclude our series, “The Roaring 20s,” by thinking together about how to build up the body of Christ so that we can become mature in our relationship with Jesus. A maturity that results in the advancing of the gospel and equipping the saints through the gifting that God provides. So join as we consider how God is equipping and maturing his church for the work of the ministry.

Last week we talked about the need for unity within the community here at Tab to have a successful ten years. Well, not only do we need unity, but we also need diversity because the scriptures speak to the need for diversity. In first Corinthians 12, God’s Word tells us that we are in one in spirit, both the Greek, the Jew, and the slave. That pretty much covers everyone. This passage also speaks to some very difficult racial tensions that the early church had to navigate to become one. Within that oneness, there was diversity. The Greeks remain Greeks, and the slaves remained slaves. However, they learned how to have church together and celebrated the different gifts that the spirit gave within their midst. The church was successful because even though it had diversity, it also had unity. In this message, we want to think about the need to celebrate our diversity. Tab has diversity, and we want to celebrate that and push that forward into the new decade so that we might at the end of ten years, be able to s

The 1920s were one of the most defining decades in modern history. Jazz music was born, art deco was born, and in the United States, women got the right to vote. But I believe the 2020s, have the potential to be one of the most historic decades in our church. We have the opportunity to move the Gospel forward and expand the Kingdom of God in extraordinary ways. Join us as we consider the next decade at Tab Church.

Many of us have been reflecting on the enormous changes that have transpired over the past decade. But what kind of person will you be in ten years? What will your relationship with God be like? And, what changes can you make now to become that person? We all have goals, plans, hopes, and dreams for the coming decade, so join us for this message as we think about, “You, in Ten Years.”

As we close out this decade at Tab church and enter into a critical next couple of years for the church, we will take a look at hope and faith and how they play a part in our lives and how they shape our future and the future of the church.

This week we will be reflecting on the carol, “Emmanuel.” Interestingly, we don’t know when this carol was first written or sung, but many scholars believe that the words of this song go back as far as the 6th century. Now, if you are familiar with the song, you know the word “rejoice” is repeated throughout the carol. “Rejoice, rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee O Israel.” And why should we rejoice? We rejoice for the best reason of all. We rejoice because Emmanuel is coming. Our savior, Emmanuel, God with us, is coming. And that is a reason to celebrate.
