Born and raised during the height of mob rule and the heroin and crack epidemics in Atlantic City, Basketball was Martin’s ticket to the great wide world. A high school All-American, he was a centerpiece of the top recruiting class in the nation when he signed with the University of Pittsburgh, where he played in the late 80s and early 90s. Once viewed as a sure-fire NBAer, Martin just missed on making The League after an injury-plagued senior year. He then began a journey of growth, exploration, reinvention and rebounding, which included nearly two decades as a professional overseas before returning stateside to begin coaching the next generation of players.
