His received his Ph.D. in United States History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to doing the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), he researches 19th-century American history. David was a UW Green Bay Teaching Scholar in 2004-05 and 2011-12, and he is co-directing this program in 2012-
